PARK PERIMETERS

How far is it around Olympic Park? What about Hackney Marsh or the twists and turns of Wanstead Flats and Wanstead Park's perimeters? This page lists the perimeter distances for almost every park in northeast London.

Highgate Wood 1.25 2.0 Follow perimeter trails.
Alexandra Park 3.0 4.8 Follow perimeter trails including a loop around the lake in the north.
Broomfield Park 1.2 1.9 Keep to paths closest to park perimeter.
Grovelands Park 1.7 2.7 from the park’s southwest gate (on The Bourne) to the northeast gate (on Church Hill) and back again, looping around the lake on the way out and the playing fields on the way back.
Oakwood Park 1.3 2.1 Perimeter loop.
Pymmes Park 1.05 1.7 Follow perimeter paths.
Springfield Park 0.9 1.4 Follow perimeter on paths.
Hackney Marsh 2.2 3.5 Keep to paths closest to park perimeter.
Wanstead Flats 4.7 7.6 Keep on paths or grass closest to park perimeters, including around Bush Wood (in the north).
Wanstead Park 3.3 5.3 Following the way-marked Chestnut Trail (wooden signs with arrows).
Valentines Park 2.0 3.2 Keep to paths closest to park perimeter and run on grass around the two cricket fields (on either side of the park) and Melbourne Field (southeast).
Claybury Woods & Park 2.7 4.3 Start at the gate on Tomswood Hill (east), run into Hospital Hill Wood, then follow the park’s edge anti-clockwise.
Fairlop Waters Country Park 2.9 4.6 Follow trails around the perimeter and run on grass around the edge of the golf course.
Fairlop Lake 1.1 1.75 Crushed limestone path around the lake.
Hainault Forest Country Park 6.0 9.7 Follow trails closest to the park's perimeter without entering any of the golf courses.
Bedfords Park 2.8 4.5 Follow perimeter trails.
Pages Wood 2.5 4.0 Follow the main perimeter figure-of-eight loop.
Thames Chase Forest Centre 1.8 2.9 Perimeter loop of the park to the west of the M25.
Eastbrookend Country Park 3.2 5.2 Keep to the perimeter of both Chase Nature Reserve and all three sections of Eastbrookend Park (without crossing the tracks to the south).
Hornchurch Country Park 2.5 4.0 Use the Eastern Pathway near the Ingrebourne River and mown grass trails in the west.
Mayesbrook Park 2.0 3.2 Return trip from the northern gate, with a loop at the southern end.
Goodmayes Park 2.5 4.0 Combine Goodmayes Park with the Park Extension in south, run perimeters of both parks.
Parsloes Park 2.5 4.0 Follow perimeter on paths and grass.
Barking Park 1.25 2.0 Sealed trail follows the southern banks of the lake and continues via tree-lined avenues all the way around the remaining edges of the park.
Beckton District Park - North 0.7 1.1 Follow perimeter paths north of Tollgate Rd.
Beckton District Park - South 1.0 1.6 Follow perimeter paths or grass.
Memorial Recreation Ground 1.1 1.8 Follow perimeter of park.
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park 3.6 5.8 Follow the art trail from Westfield Ave.
West Ham Park 1.25 2.0 2k loop starting at Upton Lane following the perimeter paths to South Gate and back to the start through the park's centre.
Millwall Dock 2.0 3.2 Follow water's edge around Outer and Inner Docks (crossing at South Quay).
Mudchute Park & Farm 0.85 1.35 Follow perimeter trails.
Millwall Park 0.5 0.8 Follow perimeter paths.
Hornchurch Country Park
Hornchurch Country Park, as a former RAF base, has wide, sweeping views plus loads of running trails.
